Leap Dance Festival, a celebration of the best and most diverse avenues of dance, is coming to Liverpool with a programme of events.
This May Bank Holiday, dancers will descend upon the city centre and Liverpool ONE for a free-to-attend afternoon of unique outdoor performances – spotlighting the wealth of both established and upcoming local talent.
On Monday, May 6, from midday, audiences can expect pop-up shows and entertainment from some of the region’s leading dance artists, including premiere performances newly commissioned by Culture Liverpool. The public will be invited to stop, watch, and even join in with a variety of activities happening throughout the city streets.
Performers on the day will include Lisi Perry, House of Suarez, Grace Goulding, Stephanie Greer, Dockside Breakers, Mersey Swing, Melt Dance, House of La Porta, The City of Liverpool College, LIPA, Ithalia Forel (Movema), Afro Dance Academy, Sole Rebel and Capoeira for All.
On Friday May 10, performers will take to the runway in a range of categories on behalf of iconic voguing from House of Suarez for the closing event of Leap Dance Festival 2024.
House of Suarez will bring their unique style of performance to The Black-E, opening up their runway to share it with artists from Leap, in celebration of Liverpool’s finest performers. This unique vogue event for Leap Dance Festival will for the first time offer dancers from other disciplines – including contemporary, tap and breakdance – the opportunity to showcase what they can do alongside vogue performers.
Leap Dance Festival 2024 lands in Liverpool from April 26 – May 10, with performances taking place in theatres, cultural venues and public spaces.
